Hahahahaha
I’m trying to think about this as someone who doesn’t know the plot already. I’d click on option 2 to read it more likely, but option 1 looks more like the couple I envision in my head. WRT advertising, I’ve also wanted to see this book take off in the Weekly Featured list. What I’ve noticed about Webnovel authors I really enjoy is that they take their advertisement outside of the platform to make themselves more “sticky” in my life. There’s an author I follow on another platform named C.J. Primer. She updates her books MWF, and every time she does, she posts an image on her Instagram that clues the reader into what the chapter might be about as a teaser. Another example is Rachel Smythe - I’ve followed her on Instagram since 2017 when her graphic novels (Lore Olympus) were completely unknown, yet she used the free platform to gather followers and invade my life. Haha, my Saturdays at 9p are explicitly set aside for her weekly updates. It might start off as a small FB/Insta following, but if you keep advertising it as a place for updates and how to get to know you, folks will follow. Maybe these are all things you’ve thought of, or perhaps you already have a social platform and I just didn’t know! It’s not a very original idea. But, at least it’s a starting place outside of Patreon/Webnovel that can gain you traction.
You know, now that I’ve read a few more chapters after this one, I have to agree with you. I probably wouldn’t have previously (not spoiling anything for those still reading!). Perhaps it’s a “protection” trope, but disguising his larger issues you mentioned. At the time I wrote the original comment, I was super frustrated at the lack of resolution on their issues because we’ve been reading Book 2 for over 8 months!
Here’s the protection trope, yet again. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a fan of the book, but tbh, I’d like Riftan more if they showed a bit more of the book from his perspective. The book drags on because they don’t have the “climax” discussion. You can still have a plot while letting your main protagonists resolve their issues.
