This book had me hooked from the very first chapter! I really really really hope it gets selected. I adore how the protagonist only wants to help her new family <3 well truly her first family who accepted her with open arms & showered her in the unconditional love she has never known but always craved.

I am assuming Mrs Artemis. She is a white witch in the process of transitioning to a black witch from taping into the forbidden magic to erase people memories/suspicions of them & control the village people like dolls.

I thought several chapters back, when Penny saw the portraits for the first time, they admitted to being white witches. The Artemis were talking to eachother after the party & mentioned something about white witches getting caught easier, but maybe I read too much into it and it was only meant to be an insult.
There was no way all the children were given to families. The Artemis was involved with the black witches. It was hard to tell if they had turned to black witches. If they had tapped into forbidden magic, there should have been a sign or maybe they did turn to black witches but were only good at hiding the fact for all these years. - alikatz131yrCommented
