And unnoticed by me, above my head shone a circular halo, growing bright green and tipped with pointed edges. The glow it gave out was unnatural, almost as if it contrasted against the world itself.

Some horrifying amount of time later, I was finally let free. My usual, gender-neutral robes were instead replaced by a green flowing hanfu, fit for a female noble artisan. Strangely, the set of clothing I was presented with nearly matched the dresser I got my robes from—filled entirely with green. Though this time I could only wear robes fit for girls, I couldn't help but feel like Guizhong had quite a heavy hand here.

Another person appeared, and though I couldn't see him clearly, his eyes shone like Cor Lapis. I felt an odd sense of apprehension as he came closer. "Good morning." He said with indifference, though I somehow knew that he felt awkward as he spoke. "What is your name, young one?"

The Butterfly of Delirium screeched as her halberd tore into its left wing. She took a breath, bobbed under a bolt of liquid poison as she pulled her halberd back. She spun on her heel, momentum building, and she swung her halberd onto the Butterfly's chest.

"Knew you'd do it." She heard Sir Evans say, and she blinked as he suddenly came up to her. There was a proud grin on his lips. "That Lost was resistant, not immune. The fact that your halberd had even injured it showed just how strong you are." He patted her head. "Good work."

It was late in the afternoons now. He and Io had made it to Louis' base in the morning, and they'd been introduced to everyone. It was an odd experience. He'd seen the same scene from the game. And now he'd experienced in-person; heard the same lines word-by-word.

He glanced at her for a moment. Blond hair, with eyes of dull silver. She could've easily passed as a model back on Earth. She could probably do it still. With her top that didn't cover her stomach, and those tight-fitting jeans—it was a look that wholly didn't fit with a veteran that lived in a dying world.

Not even gods are immune to the passage of time. To the erosion it inflicts on one's heart. Burdened by memories, Barbatos fled from the country he had saved, desperately wishing that history could've taken a different turn. At his lowest point, he wished that he never came into being. At that moment, the Genshin System awakened, and hearing his wish, attempted an unnatural solution. Barbatos dies, and Venti wakes, lost in a world familiar but not. No longer a god, but not quite a mortal, he straddles the line as the world spins around him. Perhaps now, with the Genshin System and a new lease on life, he could reach a throne beyond even Celestia.

Tokyo is to be devoured by Mementos. The Golden Morning will blind the world. Fodlan will be crushed by the weight of war. Tristain is swallowed by the Dragon. Teyvat will burn to ash. A man’s wish for the Holy Grail will drown the world. The Honkai will infect all. I’m here to change that. (I.E. When he awakens though, he suddenly finds that his eyes have changed. He now lives with the Eyes of God, capable of seeing through every and all things. But things don't remain calm. With his new eyes, he comes to realize that this world isn't as safe as he thought it was. Monsters and demons and gods lie in waiting, and he was but a boy.
