I like it more and more
Let him do what he wants, if you keep pushing him like this he will lose the desire to write, he likes to write several novels at the same time and as long as he doesn't abandon them, I have no problem.
Calling it a casual novel would not be correct, this novel has the capacity to become something very good and that you could read about other novels. My advice would be for the author to do what you (the author) mentioned; develop the MC based on his actions, that he may make some mistakes due to lack of experience/knowledge and then, when he has experience, he won't make them again... That doesn't mean that you are going to make him make a lot of mistakes and then show that he has a "development" if you could say, but I want an MC that is good enough to be respectable, with some things that he might fail at due to lack of experience, but in the end he will end up as a man that no one could call stupid. Lastly I want to point out that the way the novel is going now I like it, so don't worry, not to believe that all my likes are the best there is, but I think at least among many readers we share things in common that we like, as well as things we hate; things that drive us to read a novel and things that make us abandon it quickly.
Personally before I didn't share your opinion and I had a different one, that Scarlet Mage was the best, although I still consider her that she can be if she starts a good development, the last thing that has been shown of her is like a curious girl playing with her toy, or a fly testing the limits of a lion? It may be to get to know him better and see if he has humanity, but I feel like he overdid some things. Something still needs to be clarified though, just because Scarlet Mage has dropped a few points doesn't mean Hannah is now considered the "best". As the plot goes, the harem is the best thing that can happen in this specific novel, each one of them is like a different flavor and the two can complete each other with Riley. Pd: I wouldn't mind if Gary stays single (I'm fine with him having his hand manuela as a girlfriend), it looks better the way it is right now. I'm more interested in seeing Riley's interaction with the girls than his life.

The problem with introducing friends to people who are introverts is often unpleasant, because they always end up forcing them to do things they don't want to do and slow down their development. Many of those who relate to people like this commonly share the cliche of being super nosy and wanting to manage how the MC acts in life, although sometimes that is good (if the MC knows what to do and he really has to fix that), most of the time they are his friends forcibly imposing their ideals on him. The best ones to make friends with him would be some who share his way of being and preferably girls.
Let's say he's not evil or someone who goes to great lengths to do actions that would consider him evil, but he's somewhat close to that since he does things for profit and has some indifference to lives (which makes him not mind killing). Around chapter 60 he already has some training battles with Netero, so with that you could know his level. If we go to his skills I could tell you that the main one has to do a lot with research which is his forte, with it he can investigate things and analyze both things and skills. (you could already know how broken he is).
Norman didn't notice the *** who was watching him.... Norman did not notice ****. This has happened more than once, one of the most annoying clichés...
Add some of the Dao of shamelessness to the MC and this is perfect for what's to come.
The author abandons the novel and you read it on your own...
