probably because almost all major love interest is in other houses, and the mc is a loner which makes it extra hard for him to talk to other people from other houses he only has like 3 close friends after one year

It's mostly True though maybe different if you actually pick it as a course in college but in elementary and highschool it's just memorizing dates/names and events, although I like history myself from YouTube learned more from it that actual school

The progress with this pace is not enough to safely survive the second wizarding war. There is no point in preventing Voldemort's resurrection at the end of the Triwizard Tournament, he would only lose the advantage of his Canon knowledge. Since this is one of the major necessary events to kill him.
