Brandon Hayes dies on a rain-slick highway and wakes up in Night City, 2072 five years before the events of Cyberpunk 2077. He's now Brandon Vasquez, a broke Heywood netrunner with a stranger's memories and one impossible advantage: the Megacorp System, a tailor-made interface that feeds him blueprints for technologies decades ahead of their time. Within a year, Militech is recruiting him, Arasaka netrunners are probing his ICE, and the Voodoo Boys want to know how a Heywood nobody speaks fluent Old Net. He'll need allies, a young Judy Alvarez, a ripper named Viktor, a mercenary pair in Watson called Jackie and V and he'll need to survive enemies who don't lose gracefully. As Halcyon climbs from upstart to genuine threat to the megacorp order, Brandon faces the real question: can he stop the 2077 heist that destroys everything? Should he? Saving V means leaving Johnny Silverhand buried and the system that brought him here may have plans of its own. NOTE: keep in mind that this is a trashy fanfic written for fun.
