honestly speaking, i like Aots ending. I consider it a pretty fascinating twist and yes it does disregard erens struggles and emotions but like thats the point, the show was never about purely erens struggles but humanity's struggles and reality of war. even with erens manipulation I dont think it disregards all the emotions, loss and growth faced by every other character. Cause regardless of eren, it was real to everyone else and that should make it real to us

I mean this is clearly inspired from the Unabomber who was also a very high iq individual who made bombs and mailed them with extreme but was ultimately caught because of his own mistake in publishing his manifesto
