I don't think it's that bad it's to try and pace better cause if you have the MC get stronger quicker then you have to up the level of everyone they come across for big bads power scaling is pretty difficult to keep up with it's usually a higher number or more difficult to acquire so that there can be a buffer

that's not the ranks but amount of points he has in that specific rank
