I have never typed so much for a reply 😂...but just want to explain it to others who don't know about caste system but it is a whole lot of convoluted mess and useless in today's day and age.
yes...you know that Varna (later turned into caste) is defined by birth and by livelihood right ?...at first in people only defined themselves by their dharma but as time passed people started discriminating others by their birth , and in this case karna is born in sūta class (son of charioteer) and he only faced discrimination by the Pandavas, thier relatives and friends but by dharma he is kshatriya and not only Kichak there are many examples in Vedic times like, Suta were primarily storytellers or charioteers; both were highly respected and important professions. Almost all the Brahmins were well versed and trained in the art of storytelling while the Kshatriya were trained as a charioteer. Storytellers like Lomaharshan and his son Ugrashrava were highly respected while Shrikrishna and Shalya who were both great warriors played the roles of charioteers, and who knows what's on people's mind they discriminate some and respect others. so yea...by strictly on classification sūta is Varna-sankara or mixing of varnas as they are not in chaturvarna system (four Varna) some consider them "low"or respect them but it's all on people's mindset.
you are right my friend ... but here (Mahabharat time period) sūta class is often referred to as charioteers and elephant keeper as they are sub class of Kshatriyas, they are considered "low caste " as caste system is strictly followed at that time so inter caste as sūta or ambashthas are considered "lower" than them.
