While this chapter is satisfying, I find it hilarious you skipped out on the most obvious defense. Dumbbydoor is directly requesting them to make his home situation as similar as possible to Toms. The MC you're referring to is a guy who goes out of his way to save the life of an assassin that not only screwed him over 6 ways to Sunday thrice over, but is also a mass murder that tried to effectively kill the entire crew of the ship he was on. Some would argue that actually saving such an individual falls under the "Supreme Zealous Stupidity" of the Jedi Order's 'righteousness'.
