(They also seem to get amnesia every time we go back to the bystanders perspective) Stay far away from this one, its not worth the lost brain cells

oh boy... this one's a case of where the packaging looks decent but you take a bite and you get a mouth full of sawdust... In the first chapter it says he made a guild together with a friend who then later betrayed him in his first life. Not only does said friend never show up in the early chapters, the MC proceeds to narrate that he never joined a Guild in his last life a few chapters in. Like hello? I know you just slapped a few cliches together and called it a novel but at least keep your facts straight jesus...

To preface the review, this novel is a surprisingly good novel, with none of the blockheaded characters nor the blatent sentence repetition so commonly plaguing Chinese novels. the concept has all the ticks that would tickle a webnovel reader's fancy: evolution, system, vr-like elements, cultivation and potentially even sci-fi elements. only thing missing so far is the heroine, but hey we're only 40 chapters in, hopefully one will show up furthur in. (this is a plus imo btw)

contrary to most, i actually like this novel. the characters so far seem likeable, or at the very least not just walking plot devices. also while the chests content is kinda arbitrary when considering the grade, the chest grade themselves at least make sense in terms of location, so the scale of power doesnt just go crazy out of nowhere(yet)

it could have been good, but its just the usual moronic enemies/everyone else. why do they always refuse to see that the MC changed and go "hurr durr trash go die!" lol (repeat ad infinitum)

idk if its a masterpiece, but the translation is near mtl quality after awhile... using "inhibitor" to refer to himself and "fairy" to refer to cultivators come to mind as well as awkward sentence structure that leaves much to be desired.

i just found this gem, and am very sad it didnt make it out of the trials. for anyone else looking for more, the mtls for this are still sort of legiable so maybe go for those.
