if binding vows were effective enough with the existing techniques that allows for late-game potential, the characters themselves would have done them. unless it's something like 'binding vow for not using this technique, and in exchange, this technique powers up' but don't see it happening due to the system.

i doubt there is an upper limit to it. we went from power levels of naruto and one piece, to being so unbelievably fast that he can literally time travel. and it's still relatively early in terms of how many people are entering dungeons.
that's the interesting thing about the important characters in one piece. evil, against the main characters, good, heroic, it doesn't matter. they ALL have dreams and they're crazy enough to do anything to achieve them.
i actually enjoy fanfic like this. an overly op protagonist that fights every battle, beats every opponent, intrudes in every major plot is extremely boring. you need characters outside of the mc to be important or it becomes a terrible power wank fantasy.
