I am currently writing the novel: Desolate Fate. Desolate Fate is a polished version of my first novel, A Desolate Life. Give it a try if you like dark, philosophical cultivation novels.

I'll be honest - not sure. Sorry, lol. I know what major plot points I'm going to include, but plans change, and I have no idea how long it will take to complete everything, or how long it will end up being. I don't plan on making it crazy long though (1000+).
I mentioned in a post note at some point, my kidney ruptured and became infected, and I'm still recovering. It keeps flaring up, giving me pain, fever, migraines, exhaustion, etc., making it difficult to write at the moment. Once I'm fully recovered I'll return to uploading every day :)
As for the 'protective part', I assume you mean the Dao Clone of Qi? Remember that the Dao Clone of Qi was born from Yaan's mortal human emotions. Again, although he is calling himself Yaan, he is not the true complete Yaan. Anyway, you'll see what I mean soon enough.
This will be explored as the volume progresses, don't worry, I'm not just ignoring all that he's been through :). Also, remember that the current Yaan (main body) is still not his 'complete self', since he basically used portions of his dao heart to create the other Dao Clones. He is vicariously experiencing those parts of his dao heart through the Dao Clones, but he can't be considered the 'complete Yaan' at this point.
Maybe the Dao Clone of Qi was actually born from the hidden cringe in Yaan's dao heart
Shhh, don't talk about my abysmal naming sense, most people somehow haven't realised how bad I am at naming characters yet...anyway, his surname pretty much never comes up again lol
If you're asking specifically about body tempering, then it's split into two paths from Rank 1 to Rank 3; 1-Star, 2-Star and 3-Star vital energy cultivation, and Iron Class, Bronze Class, Silver Class, Gold Class, Mythril Class, Obsidian Class physical body cultivation. These levels are much below Yaan at this point so they won't have much relevance in this arc anyway. At Rank 4, the two paths can be fused, which results in the 4-Star Realm (body temperer with Vital Core). At Rank 5, body temperers form the Primal Soul, but they're still typically called 5-Star Realm cultivators. As for Yaan himself he follows the Four Paths Cultivation Technique, so although he is also Rank 4 here, his realm is unique, and is called the Vital Qi Core Realm.
