you got a 4 out inning.
not sure what the pitching distance in a HR derby is, but if it's the standard 18m, than no matter how athletic you are, you won't be even decent in hitting the strike zone without practice. and unless Wayne has some baseball activities unknown to us, I would think he would appreciate the gesture but decline, to give Jake better odds of winning by choosing someone consistent.
his no strike out stat in games should be mentioned in the future again during the national team tryouts. like coaches discussion when some pencil pusher argues that no one should get a free pass after one tryout. or to shut up some disgruntled parents of different second base player that gets cut off the team. some cheap face slapping [img=faceslap]
how many teenagers (or adults for that matter) use their free time to better themselves? even 15-30 minutes a day? in an area that you have on your agenda daily? more likely he has his fill of baseball with practice and games. his love for the sport isn't like Noah's. And coaches at practice focus on his weak areas (running, fielding, stamina, arm strength). just saying Jake's no super hero with a system. his (non) development is perfectly normal, even more so considering his personal history
very nice chapter. mind giving it a title (rankings) or something.?any chance we get info on other players? Garrett should be somewhere. maybe a few other guys on the county list?BTW, would be nice if Jeremy gets asked about Jakes rankings in an interview [img=recommend]
pretty sure that a windup is and always will be a very dumb thing to do with a runner on base. he should be in his set position
windup with runner on second? windup should be "motion"
Would love to see Jake get a rematch face off against pitchers in the MLB system, (Rhys took him during the summer camp). The result bugged Jake then, but it seems it totally left his mind and he lost his goal to beat them. would be nice to give him a goal of his own [img=recommend]
Don't think Jake is number 1 material as of right now. sure he can hit like no other, but until he can become a threat on the base path with his speed, he is a one trick pony. With a glaring flaw, which has just been shown not so long ago (picked off at first / staying at first when there's tag play at home). In the system it's about wins, so he'll just get walked in almost every at bat.
Have to say i expected a higher scoring game from the final. the lineups on both sides had zero blind spots. and the pitching was wacked. forgot the name but one pitcher struck out 2, only to walk the next three. and the ending looked like a Hollywood script. Two superstars decking it out for that W. (Hollywood would make it bottom of 9 with one runner on, for that walk off chanceđ) anyway, thanks for the chaps and keep them coming.
