I’m American as well but you have to stop thinking like an Anerican for 1 minute. Us Anericans tend to think we are the center of the world, so we forget COVID-19 became a pandemic in January-February of 2020 by hitting other countries first. It wasn’t supressed by Republicans, it just didn’t make it to America until February and nobody understood the seriousness until probably early March. Yes COVID-19 technically started in Wushan, China in late 2019, but it wasn’t even an epidemic until 2020, let alone a pandemic.

I’m not trying to downplay the problems of America. My only point was to compare Earth to Dragon City. When you think about it, there are only 2 groups. The rich in the center of the city, and those in the public housing districts that take up most of the population. And yes, it is not just a technological difference. There is also the lack of resources for the poor. Dragon city took care of the regular starvation problem years ago, but now you have to think about the quality of resources, now that there is a much bigger differentiation due to the mutations in the New World. The fact that the poor can’t have these resources whether it’s food or technology, the problem they face now, which is more dangerous than Earth problems, is being slaughtered and eaten by beasts. Due to the new powers humans have available, the difference in treatment becomes larger because there is a larger difference between normal and top tier.

I actually do live in the states. The middle class, regardless of it growing or declining, still makes up a majority of the population. And even when not taking into account the idealization, Earth is still way more equal. If you read about all of the riches and technology the upper class people have, the difference between them and the lower class was way less apparent on Earth than in Dragon City. I would say it has a lot to do with the survivalist mindset of humans, and that they don’t think they can afford to help the less fortunate in such a dangerous place. At least on Earth there was a semblance of equality and the rich weren’t treated or felt like higher level beings
