Author, unless the MC learned to read and write in Japanese, I don't see how reading manga (usually done in a language you're good at, not Japanese, unless you already know it) will help.

The reason I made this clarification is because of CERTAIN fanfictions that have the "oc mc" suck up to the mc of the work they're making a fanfiction of. I personally hate that stuff.

I won't comment on Tartarus, because spoilers. However, regarding the matter of the MC being called differently by the narrator: It depends on who the focus of the narration is on.
