you mean besides justice? maybe because when you make your bed with dogs, you catch their fleas. By protecting him, the guardians are making more people question there abilities to rule, guide or make decisions for the mere mortals. some of there actions are why the master is doing what he is doing. you could even say balkor did what he did because guardians have made bad decisions running their territories. at some point someone is going to get powerful enough to push them off the top of the totem pole and it's going to hurt.

he didn't just try to take revenge on those that killed his family and village. he attacked innocent children noble and common alike, years later when those attacked had nothing to do with the wrong done to him.

yeah except most guardians are stupid, detached and conceded. Scarlett is the guardian of children. She probably doesn't or won't get along with most of the current guardians, that suck at there job.
