I remind you that golems caused a scene where actual persons were framed as imposters. Like, everybody seen there being two of each of them. And then they ALL go and die all together without any survivors and even a trace, how unlucky.

So the cuff itself was magic. Seriously, mages are dirt at this point. No reasonable way to explain totally unreasonable supply of these things.

At this point my guess is that author didn't know the difference between apathetic and unemphatic. Though, well, I can't imagine unemphatic person getting shy.

Imagine spending somehow intricate magic cuffs just to freaking explode country folks who have no way to gain 50 gold in 2 days. Do they have a honest-to-god factory of magic cuffs? Are mages as common as dirt or something?

Oi. Wasn't a SINGLE gold coin a hella big pile of cash before? We did see a couple of noble kids get their lives ruined by Tanya's gang before, and they surely did sound desperate about a 1 gold coin fine. And now you're telling me these guys paid a thousand of those in total?
