The way I perceived occlumency in cannon was that there were different types. One to keep legilimence out and to detect intruders. One to facilitate the use of your brain, like upgrading a computer. and another stage that helps with your emotions which would facilitate better magic usage due to magic being multiplied by emotions. You can see these being used throughout cannon if you look for them. As for setting up defenses in your mind I would say that you can attempt it. Whether it works or not could not be checked unless it's tested. That would be by a legilimense. You would never be a le to tell if your occlumense was good or even decent without testing it. That would be like some setting up a light fixture and flipping a switch without making sure the wiring was done. Without testing either with a person or even an artifact that was runed to dive into a mind as practice you would never know if you did it correctly.

Most of it went up and down after deflecting. The sides were already destroyed by the Guardian. But you are correct it would be his fault. Luckily he tanked most of the damage. Perhaps I should add that in?
he had Alice hack in and get him credentials a while ago. along with schooling test records and whatnot. he is a ghost though as no one really has seen him besides a few.
in order for it to be a destroyer it has to destroy something. name one thing it destroyed other than what's in the movie?
what others call him and what he calls himself could be different. I think 'of the sun' is a nice name for him
