No they're 2 completely different things. It's like how you can't just regenerate from cancer or AIDS. No matter how you like it the healing of the inside and outside of the body are completely different. Not just about it being the inside, the breakdown is probably at a cellular level in the first place which makes regeneration all the different. The only way I can see him getting better cell regeneration is either by fusing with a starfish or a frog, but I doubt he'd do either for the plot sake.

No, good guys don't end up corpses. Reckless guys end up corpses. He can still be a good person and be cautious about the way he helps people.
