Just saying, it is proper grammar to write single digit numbers out if they are the only ones in the sentence. It is a very small rule, but it makes it look better.

Back when he was part of the syndicate, he had to go through similar situations like this. Things like drugs and alcohol were something obviously consumed incredibly often in the criminal underworld, and since Foster didn't want to overdose on drugs, trying to make a deal with someone over alcohol was far, far easier. - GEEFIUS2yrCommented
