At around first 30-40 chapters, I stopped reading the english translation entirely and only read the original chinese ver with the help of a few online chinese dictionaries. I dropped the novel at around 100ish chapter. In retrospect, I came to the conclusion that john cui actually did a better job at translating than white egret at writing; at least the former spent efforts trying to improve his work while the latter was consistent in his horrible writing throughout. After the ship arc, there was no real suspense, nothing to look forward to, predictable plots, nauseating romance, and unlikeable main characters.

I'm reading the original novel in chinese and this english translation version at the same time. Although I should appreciate the quality of English of this translator, I disagree with how he/she changes the order and words of the original sentences. It's really like reading two different novels. The way I would interpret certain features of a character would have been different if I only read this translation. I find the original writing style smoother to read and easier to immerse myself in.
