If desired, one could kill two birds with one arrow. Rhaenyra seemed determined to surpass Queen Alysanne, bearing her husband a whole army of children—with such undoubted proofs of love, Daemon could perhaps afford some principled stance on the marriage of the elder children. However, this did not negate the validity of the question regarding his own daughters. He and Laena had raised the topic repeatedly, but every time they came to the same conclusion: serious talk of betrothals could only be held in a couple of years, and for now, the girls could quietly enjoy their childhood.

Courtiers, a small part of the royal retinue, mostly lords of the Narrow Sea, shied away from the passage, pressing into the walls and almost jumping into the narrow arrow slits, making way for the young generation of House Targaryen. In a little over ten years, it had increased to fourteen souls and threatened to increase even more—Rhaenyra, unlike Alicent and Laena, did not plan to limit herself to four children and, having given birth to a fifth, was heavy with child again.

Alicent, who had only recently borne Viserys a son, now proudly carried their second child beneath her heart. Rhaenyra, determined to bear Daemon a son, was only a couple of months behind her former friend. Shortly before their flight to King's Landing, Maester Norbert, thoughtfully tugging at his gudgeon whiskers, had informed Aegon that Laena was also pregnant. But evidently, it was not enough for the gods to bless the Targaryens with legitimate children; they decided to unleash a torrent of bastards upon them...

Damn good news keeps piling up these days, so whatever happens, Dance of the Dragons or not, the Targaryen legacy won't end as badly as it did in the Canon, because seeds have been planted everywhere
Daemon grunted and shrugged indifferently. Cora Sand, the bastard sister of the Prince of Dorne, who had become something between a concubine, a hostage, and simply an expensive whore for the middle brother during the months of war on the Stepstones, had given birth to a little girl a month ago. For a time, the story was the main topic of court gossip, as everyone knew exactly for whom and why the Dornishwoman warmed her bed. After his betrothal to Rhaenyra, Daemon had lost interest in his mistress, and she, along with her charges and growing belly, had been left to her own devices in remote chambers of the Red Keep, forgotten by all save the guards assigned to the Martells.

Good idea, at least like that even if the main branch die off, the other will live on
