it's pretty simple, first, people have been put to the death sentence for less. Also, if you would rather put someone into jail because your morals prevent you from killing, when this person has killed thousands, and you have put them there knowing at some point they will escape. The least you could do is help develop a prison that will actually stop them from escaping. But if you don't do that, and you imprison them knowing that they are just going to escape and kill more and more innocent lives, those lost lives are on your hands, you indirectly killed those people because you couldn't put in the effort to prevent that from happening, at that point, you're not a hero, not in the slightest, your 'moral code' is the reason for thousands of deaths, tell that to the families of those who lost their loved ones. It's honestly pathetic, when it comes to this, Batman is no hero
