I wouldn't call this blackmailing becausing the end result is still the same. I would call it having mercy. Quinn could have not bothered with giving him a way out and just gone with the second option. But he chose to leave that man's reputation in tact.

This also tells Dumbledore that it may have been Quinn who killed the trolls during Quinn's second year. Which may incurr that Quinn knew powerful dark magic at such a young age.
The wand weighing ceremony.
Create a sword similar to Gryffindor's, that can change length/shape so that he can efficiently kill monsters in the earth vault. If he compliments his sword magic/skills with his body magic, we can all imagine how much damage he can cause without expending much magical energy.
