I’m sure if that worked then they would’ve employed that tactic in the 500 years between attacks. They are literally described as being perfectly in sync with mana so I’m sure they could make a shield strong enough for ordinary weapons to become useless. It’s like wondering why characters In video games don’t just shoot the boss in the head and win instantly
