Smart choice. Stat points are the most valuable currency in any game, gamer system, etc. Whilst they aren't actual currency, they work the same way in that they are limited in number, and can be spent. Imagine needing food, and you have 100 dollars, but the same week, you're able to get some food from work instead, saving the 100 dollars to use next week when you need it. Works the same for stat points.
