some thoughts I had: How about if in each game there is an object of great importance that works as a "key" to the next game, releasing a kind of "alpha version" for a group of players if they get the item. And depending on the faction the group is aligned with (notch or herobrine) we have a different game tone. The MC has already presented two beings that look like two gods, they are brothers and are opposites so I suggest that their "deities" are games and dreams. Games is obvious why but the divinity about dreams because from the outside people click on the game, "sleep" and are transported to it.
It's a good game option, if you're going to follow my idea too, a way to fit the two is for the game's intro to be something like this: "My brother thinks humans are good but personally I think you are the most despicable beings in the universe but how about a little game to see who is right? Looking closely at your world I came across a very interesting situation and I think many of you will too ... In the end, what will human beings be? Will they be good or bad when the world is against you?"
I don't know if you remember but I had the idea that since we have "two" creators: Notch and Herobrine, you could make each one focus on one side of the games. For example Notch as the main creator of Minecraft where we have companionship, creativity and discovery as the focus of the game, where the game despite some frustrations tries to give you fun as much as possible. Herobrine on the other hand could focus on challenging games like the Souls series and others where the only "fun" is overcoming but otherwise it's a lot of frustration and swearing. It would be amazing to see people frustrated with Dark Souls or even Shadow of Colossus and these have a story that you could easily adapt to fit the two "gods of gaming".
First of all my English is horrible so forgive me the mistakes and this is going to be a really big comment: Your story is amazing and reuses a trope that has been sold out for a long time so it's a 10 for creativity, honestly this fight will be epic and if you like, this moment is perfect for some things for example: 1) Epic villain speech: something about the duality of Herobrine and Notch and a hint about the possible history between the two (like the brothers who created Mine or the god who split up and created a world to have company and something to do). 2) Implement the setting of being able to use and share metapowers BUT don't forget the off button as I see it what makes the game awesome for mutants is the taste of normality and the opportunity not to get screwed by its powers. 3) In the aftermath of the fight no matter who wins (notch/Herobrine) is an opportunity to unleash the resource of creation ce mods, a way of fun and arming players for the next invasion. Last but not least I'm curious to know the next game and an idea if you haven't already thought about it and that in every game there's a war between nocth and Herobrine and whoever wins sets the tone for the next game (whether it will qualify for all ages or not) for example if Herobrine wins this war the next game is something like Resident evil or Bloodborne but if notch wins do something like Pokemon or Zelda.
