Same with wood boats I believe (base on a anime so it might not be true (one piece)), wood boats have a ‘spine’ that is the center part and if broken u have to build a new ship, as the ‘spine’ (don’t know the real name) can’t be ‘replace’ unlike pretty much every other piece of wood on the ship
The ship of Theseus, which had been at sea for centuries, would have its planks replaced as soon as a piece rot, and so on until every single plank and rope on that ship was not the same as the original one.
