what I don't understand is, if he actually loves his daughter, why would he want to wedge a war with Leon? If he didn't create a war, then Alicia will be safe, and their bonds could grow deeper. if only the king knew that the other crown prince had Leticia, I swear, the war will perhaps not happen.

I'm guessing it's a near death punishment before he actually dies.
