This was one of the novels I started thinking it could be decent but got pulled in the further I read. The world has a good basic outline that we learn more about as needed. Also learn some through the skills the mc gains that give a brief history relating to it that as we progress feel more like pieces of a puzzle to a forgotten or concealed history. The side characters are done well. At first it is basic side character but goes more in depth in a natural progression as the mc interacts with them. Does a good job on having character flaws for everyone that they will improve on. The mc, Damon, grows a lot as a character and in my opinion is pretty realistic for a character. Damon is arrogant, cunning, dark and a loner(edgy for sure) but gradually opens up to being able to have friends and gain more depth as a character overall. This doesn’t mean he gets soft instead he becomes more decisive in his actions and less of a loner. He also always uses his head and every trick up his sleave to achieve his goals. The system is mainly there to explain his powers, new skills and what to do to make his shadow stronger(level up). Story is engaging and has a nice blend of action, drama and mystery. It just gets more interesting as the story goes on. TLDR: Story has good in depth characters that some may seem basic at first but go more in depth as the story progresses. Mc personality, how he seems like a failure and more all get explained as the story goes on. System is there but doesn’t go overboard to overshadow everything. Definitely try the free chapters to get some idea if you’re interested. For author: I liked how you built the characters each step of the way. One of the best parts for me was how the hunter scene effected Damon and how he decides to deal with Iris as that felt the most real to me. Also always a good character building if you can make a shift in how we view them like going from disliking them to liking them(Xander). Characters and story have a smooth progression with nothing feeling too rushed or like random info or backstory being thrown at me. Would have put criticism in if I thought of any as I like to have some constructive criticism but as a reader I just enjoyed it the whole way so far. Thanks again for the chapters, keep up the good work.
Nice ending to this arc and enjoyed the Lilith/Damon duo. Novel has progressed well so far with story and the characters so I’m excited to see what’s next. As always thanks for the chapter.
Just instantly thought of Aladdin and it fits too well.
Connected the dots finally now if only he can figure out he is talented with the sword. Don’t know if he will have to have one of his friends convince him or figure it out that it was yet another thing back to back gaslighted him on. Thanks for the chapter.
I see we found Apollo’s safe word. A necessary precaution when your partner is a bigger freak than you.
Fun time with wife: No Spend time with daughter: Yes
Falling for his own trick it seems, when he dyed his hair blue to lure the student into the forest.
Everything points to Sylvia being the best host and guessing ahead that if a professor is behind it it’s gonna be Professor Chrome. Rule number one in finding the culprit always suspect the unsuspected.
Nice skill it honestly isn’t bad at all since it essentially let’s him have a wider range of feeding options and a fail safe(using his own stats) if it gets desperate. Even if the ratio of hunger relief is less than eating people it is easier to get a large quantity of monsters than people. Just has to hunt people for the souls to level up. Thanks for the chapter👍
