Michael was only able to defeat Lucifer because he had the help of other archangels and angel army and also the blessing of God himself. You must know Lucifer before becoming Devil was known as the lightbringer as he has the power of light second to God himself. He also has the power of fire and after becoming Devil he got the power of darkness, hellfire, soul manipulation etc and many other unique abilities related to death and destruction and most importantly despite being the devil he was immune to power light due to being former archangel.
Everyone should know that Michael is not really weak, he just want peace, but that does not mean he was weak. Even in the original bible, he was the one who defeated Lucifer and pushed him in hell.
