is this some kind of cliche I read in some manga where his supposed friend who is a 'him' is actually a she and is Kisaragi and maybe rena is someone he randomly saved back on his missions without knowing each other or maybe a part of his mysterious family on his mother's side? you sure like making your readers go insane on guessing what will the plot be author-san... Though I like it.
