yep , if it is similar to ancient china , then the lack of healthcare and technology , coupled with difficult living conditions (if not wealthy) , 65 seems pretty reasonable.

Chinese authors in general. at least , most novel seems to find talent and confidence a flaw in women. to be fair , western authors do that too , just more subtly like "damsel in distress".
