I don't hate Issei but I've always found him to be a terrible excuse for a harem MC, but I still felt slightly bad for him here. At least Issei is smart and doesn't want to die.

What kind of stupid nonsense did he just say? They're fighting because Vali is a jerk who only thinks about himself so he betrayed the three factions to join Ophis, friendship has nothing to do with it. The magic of anime keeps everyone alive so what he does seems somewhat harmless, but the reality is that any main character could die for his foolishness, not to mention all the lives caught in the crossfire.

I guess I'll imagine a better sword than the canonical one, because the weapon designs in DXD were horrible for the most part.

Please don't let that be Augusta hiding in probably the most sacred, anti-possession thing around because that would be fucking stupid. That logic only applies when you have more plot armor than a Shonen protagonist.

I'm pretty sure Vali was more than just a battle maniac, he was also a psychopath with a protagonist complex who craved to snatch from others what he couldn't possess himself. But it's been a long time since I watched the anime when he appears, so I might be missing something.
