yep, if it can be corrupted it will be. Even if it is only for crime, the people in power can change the law to make simple things a crime and, boom, you are a slave. and then after say 50-ish years the culture will slide in favor of more slaves and, boom, debt slaves. then it won't be enough because the corporate overlords would take advantage over the system and force people into the slave system, boom, corporate slaves. then the government will need more slaves because the economy is taking all the slaves. boom stolen slaves. and slaves will be raised and bred for war. boom, we have the Marines... wait...

one step ahead is correct ."having the upper hand " is used more for confrontational interactions such as military maneuvers or direct business interactions ." one step ahead " is more for racing like reaching the moon, researching new tech. or gathering Intel. They are very similar to each other. example: America managed to get the upper hand in the world wars because their production and research were a few steps ahead of the competition.

I see... you are so attracted to women you wish to not only form a harem of them but be half one as well ... nothing manlier than that. The only negative is that your desire is pulling your will/logical side into what it wants. As a wizard who studies such things, it will make you predictable in a bad way.

MC probably named it "horned rabbit" because that is what he understands it as. now, we should assume that it is based on his understanding of the rabbit. if he went to college and learned the difference among the horned rabbit breeds, it could change to a more accurate phrasing. like, this is "dog" but later learn "dog" is "golden retriever" and after making it a pet turns it to "Jack" after naming it.

true... but what if the parents manage to get the child's interest in doing magic? "monkey see; monkey do" type scenario. children are fast learners at their young age. so doing magic around them would make them want to be like their parents and push the child into learning magic sooner than say 5. kinda like learning to talk or skiing before walking.
Right, I suppose normal children at my age would still have trouble forming cohesive words and worrying about pooping their diapers than actually learning about magic.
