Last update was on 18th October when TL got in touch to say he wouldn't be able to continue after being MIA for a while after starting a new job that took up most of his time. Rest of the team seems to still be in place but finding someone able and willing to TL the rest is tough.
Well even in the discord there isn't really much news. Basically the current TL is unable to continue since he's busy with work and doesn't have time to translate. They're trying to find a replacement but haven't had any luck so far.
I'm assuming it's edited now since when I read through the chapter it all looked fine.
Well since Grasping Evil was released on Qidian that also owns Webnovel it meant they were pretty much forced to to move it there. At first Webnovel offered relatively good terms for translation teams but ever since they've pivoted to poaching authors from Wattpad they've pretty much killed all their translation projects. A lot of good novels have been killed off after Webnovel forced them to move onto their platform and then dropped them cause they weren't making enough money while also promising to DMCA anyone who dared pick it up and not post it on their platform.
I think this complaint is completely unjustified. Unless you can specify where it has been poorly translated/edited it seems to be a baseless claim that they are incompetent. I have seen other translations on Webnovel that aren't great but here I don't really see any issues. The release speed could be higher but at the end of the day if the TL team doesn't make enough to make a living from translations alone then they have to prioritise their day job.
My personal guess is that she's dead. However just like Ning Honghong it is quite likely that she has been reincarnated. Alternatively she could be in stasis awaiting just before death. It is also possible she got refined into the blood wine gourd as that does take blood and her problem was that she lost all of hers...
It's at times like this where I wonder if the TLs have signed a contract that forbids from saying anything potentially negative about Webnovel that prevents them from saying the novel has been dropped. It is curious how the moment updates stop TLs that have otherwise been communicative and interacted with the community seem to maintain complete radio silence.
Generally I don't mind if a chapter is delayed but communication is critical. If people are updated then expectations can be managed. Considering that Webnovel is in the habit of killing off unprofitable novels without a word when there is silence people do fear the worst. I'll also note that if daily chapters is too hard changing the release schedule and notifying readers could be a good idea
I guess the lesson they're going to get taught is that some people do actively seek death...
Wow, if that is true then people have been paying for privilege for a year to support a novel whilst unbeknownst to them it had already been dropped and all the money spent was pointless. There's a serious lack of transparency at WebNovel if it is the case and it means that potentially any novel you're reading has been dropped x months ago and they're just exhausting the stockpile while trying to milk the last bit of profit before going silent.
I suspect King Jin has been plotted against by the Serene Heaven Palace that wants to use him as a pawn to attack Ning Fan's homeland since it is a bit suspicious that he plans to take over his homeland just after Ning Fan revealed his identity to the Rain Sovereign. Having said that it won't spare King Jin who is a willing accomplice.
