Obviously untrue even in this story. If the wealthy have greater compassion this world would not have so much oppression and danger. Meanwhile, in the real world it has been scientifically proven that excessive wealth causes measurable brain damage that diminishes empathy
I am not an expert, but earlier he did pushups with a boulder on his back. I expect that those forces are greater than those experienced from falling at terminal velocity. I am surprised he isn't already immune to fall damage (except onto spikes or something).

Thanks for explaining. That is a harsh restriction! I was expecting the penalty to be some annoying ritual or minor drop in cultivation. With it being permanent I now think picking a dorm as a waypoint is immediately helpful in a desperate situation, but a mid to long-term waste. PS. This is not a criticism/complaint of the story, merely my evaluation of the character's decision
