Light hearted read which I liked a lot. Here are some pros and cons in my opinion Pro 1: Initially I thought it would be going down the path of being a harem. Really glad that author didn’t go down that path. 2: Very fast paced (ignoring some initial chapters as mentioned above) Con 1: A little bit of jingoism creeps in. Not sure if that was really required. Not being from China or Chinese origin, I can’t really say anything from their perspective. I was OK with some things but felt some were not OK. 2: Ending felt a little abrupt but I guess the author could not figure out how to end it or he was tired of writing the novel. Hero has become a little too powerful and there was no way forward but would have loved to see him become top of the world and maybe retire.

Very nice book. Not too many rollercoasters nor trying to prolong things. Well written. Liked reading it. Not sure if I wanted it to end but I think it ended well and probably at the right time.

A few things I like about this novel 1) It is completed. There a few that I like that now keep dragging on. There is no pleasure of completing a story. Also not too long nor too short. 2) A very light-hearted story. Does not try to make it too complicated and all threads seem to have been filled in. Does a have things to wish had been changed but 3) Engrossing and entertaining

I like many aspects of this book. It has varied characters. It had moments of poignant sadness and many moments of humor. It has good descriptions of Chinese food. Having said that I feel it is trying a little too hard to make everything non-Chinese especially other Asian cultures especially food as being bad or at least inferior to Chinese food. As I love all types of food, I feel that this is not good.

The story has many aspects to like. It has its light hearted moments with humor as well as some heavy moments. Review was done after reading 70+ chapters.

Really nice read. Good lightheaded and funny moments. There are poignant and sad moments especially with some deaths though offscreen created a significant emotional connection
