I'm looking forward to the reaction of Sun Ling Cai as Yuan plays with the demon emperor and interrogates it as easily as a mortal.
Bows and crossbows do not have very elastic strings, that would actually lower their strength. The strings are only flexible enough to not snap when pulled. The real power comes from the tension in the arms of the crossbow, either wood or metal. When the string is pulled back, the arms of the crossbow are bent back and when the string is released the arms snap back into their original position pulling the string tight, shooting the bolt or arrow. This tension in the wood or steel is why bows and crossbows are not supposed to be kept strung when not in use, as it will only weaken their strength over time as the material begins to conform to the new bend. Flaws like this make me question a lot of the other information used by the author, but I'm too lazy to verify as much information as the author puts forth.
I've never understood why all bows only really scale to agility, since in real life it takes a lot of strength to shoot more powerful bows. War bows can be capable of completely punching through some armors and there have been some that have draw weights up to about 185 pounds. To pull that back repeatedly requires strength much more than it does agility.
Considering it said their shells tend to die after about 2 years at most, then wouldnt having enough to buy 100 allow them to have an elite level shell for quite a long time? The only problem I could see with it is how long people would be willing to sell their dead bodies for, as the lich would have to buy in cycles to keep their shell fresh.
Wasn't it mentioned that gunpowder couldnt be made in this world? If they have cannons it's likely magical in nature which could possibly be less volatile. Though a good mage probably still wouldnt have much trouble destroying the ships.
I understand that it was the tower of pisa that was known to lean, but with such a tall building you would need quite a strong foundation or a massive base to stop it from slowly sinking into the ground. I saw no mention of such a foundation or how wide the base is, so it would probably start leaning after a few days if the ground beneath it is uneven densities.
Do we actually believe most humans are intelligent creatures?
Proof enough that he can use magic in his world, his combat abilities were likely being instinctually strengthened through magic, which used up any stored mana in his soul.
