I would recommend making a timeline of your story. Mostly just the big points, then all you need to figure out is how your character/characters get from this point to this point. It will help with writers block as well let you have a plan you want to follow. You might want to even have a timeline of the original game to cross check and not make errors with that. I would also recommend knowing how you want your story to end so you always have a goal to strive for. You can take my advice but what do I know, I've never written any kind of story before. If so, it works the same way. Just because someone is gay shouldn't be reason enough to make you uncomfortable unless your homophobic.

I'm sorry, but if you need a trigger warning before you read something about homosexuality or the LGBTQ+ community, your homophobic. If you dont think so, then think about this. If you need a trigger warning if the story has a black person or Hispanic person, your racist. Its the same concept.
