Is it me or does it seem.lile the MC has gotten dumber all of a sudden. I don't understand how it seems he has regressed in mentality to the point where he wouldn't be suspicious of a random. Grabbing his junk or missing guards when they are essentially at war still. It's like the author made him dumber to advance the plot with less thought.
