I fear his rationality is slipping away here. He looks at relationships as a means to an ends and so far hasn’t really expressed a wish for a real relationship. I understand the having nothing to having something is life changing but in the end, you just cannot take it with you when you shuffle off this mortal coil. The MC would need to seek some balance but I am not sure if he has the strength of will to do it…
