Thanks for the chapter. I don’t really understand the main character’s personality. It’s like he completely lacks self awareness at times unable to understand his own actions. As it stands he has no tangible drive aside from revenge thats no longer possible. I think before anything else his character needs to be more fleshed to help readers understand what kind of person he is and explain his decisions.
Hey thanks for the chap but I’m pretty confused about a few things. First how exactly did he defeat Zabuza he seemed to have used a powerful genjutsu but I’m not sure how or what it was or why it was never mentioned he trained any genjutsu. Secondly does he gain any physical enhancements from his stat page? I think it only gives him knowledge, experience, enlightenments/memories but then his physical training menu doesn’t compare to a pre genin rock lee so how can he support one piece sword techniques. Lastly he said he wouldn’t be a copy cat and would pioneer his own sword style but hasn’t gone into any detail about that.
I keep waiting for the moment Naruto changes and evolves as a person. I think I most disappointed in his future self though. His one advantage over his canon self isn’t cutting it. Naruto isn’t the smartest or the most talented character to begin with and his years at the academy which were supposed to give him a first rate education and training that would become his foundation completely failed him. Add that to his status as an orphaned jinchuriki and you get a loud mouthed immature idiot with severe emotional problems. In short he can be said to be inferior in countless ways to the average academy students and has to play catch up.
Nice chapter. I hope he gets to hone his sword skills in this dungeon against a samurai. The anbu Cat once asserted that while he’d never be gods gift to swordsmanship he was okay. Naturally I was interested, because a general lack of aptitude was always a major issue for him. So his Kenjutsu skills can act like a case study to see if his system can help him overcome that weakness.
Great fanfic. I got a question. I got interested in the whole sword incarnate thing, I looked it up and I found that the only reason Shiro possessed that was because he had Sabers sheath inside of him. Having sword as his element and origin was a strength that he used as a basis to overcome his mediocre aptitude for magecraft and surpass his limits by creating unlimited blade works along with decades of training and upgrade from the ‘world’ when he name a counterguardian. It always seemed strange that he used his element and origin to surpass his limits as a mage and not as a warrior. Martial arts in typemoon has proven able to surpass magecraft after all. For example Sasaki Kojiro whose performed a skill only thought possible with true magic or Miyamoto Musashi who cuts even concepts with her skill. Those born with the concept of breathing and walking can reproduce greater Mysteries than the Magi without knowing anything about Magecraft. Or Okita alters movement technique furthest earth that allows her to dimension hope. I assumed his affinity for swords meant he’d be able to pioneer his own skills into the realm of the gods like those mentioned. It never made sense that copying downgraded skills through his magecrafts was his limit.
Thanks for the chapter. I’m liking the training arc so far but Naruto’s mindset seems a little lacking. Unlike his father, Itachi, and the first hokage who were true geniuses who were carefully nurtured Naruto has too many weaknesses. Because of his circumstances he learned next to nothing from the academy leaving him underdeveloped in terms of shinobi skills, physical ability but especially academic and general knowledge. So he lost a lot of valuable time he has to make up for. But his biggest weakness is the immaturity and biases he’s developed. For example his bias against any shinobi art aside from ninjutsu and I can’t imagine his time at the academy gave him a love of learning especially from books and nothing that’s isn’t realated shinobi has his attention. I’m not sure the Anbu fully understand those weaknesses. As a gamer he has no real limits so his growth and potential mainly relies on himself.
Wasn’t rock lee doing 1000 push ups in the academy.
I’ve been trying to figure out his personality and I’m lost. He doesn’t have traditional heroic ideals but isn’t your garden variety psycho either and he definitely isn’t an ordinary balanced individual. Maybe amoral would be accurate but not completely unfeeling. From what I’ve read he probably won’t bat an eye at the death toll caused by a whim on his part. Regardless of that he’s accomplished a lot but I still feel like I don’t what kind of man he is and what he truly wants.
Great chap
Good chapter. I think the mc’s one weakness is his lack of a clear goal since coming to marineford. Don’t get me wrong he hasn’t been slacking off per say but it feels like he got sidetracked and not living up to his full potential. Point is I’m not sure I really understand what he wants anymore. Drive, ambition, dreams, and desire are everything in One Piece. Aside from bs protagonist halo its what allowed Luffy to defeat Kaido at 19 when should have only in one in a thousand chance.
Thanks for the chapter
Great chapter. This is one of my all time favourite fanfics and definitely my favourite Percy Jackson riordanverse fanfic. Keep doing what you’re doing.
I think he’s pretty out of his league right now and low level in every possible metric I can think of. The reason everyone is fascinated by him is the unique nature of his abilities and the raw potential shown when he went berserk and his zanpakto/Soul Reaper hollow self was in control. The actual man himself is weak. He was an ordinary street level criminal in his past so it tracks. By DC standards his physical prowess is above peak human, his intelligence/knowledge is average, and his martial skill is average to below average. It’s his powers alone that give him great potential. The most worrying thing is that only two soul reapers reached the top with little to no formal training and they were Ichigo and Zarakaki but they still received some training from legendary characters and were beyond obscenely talented. The worst thing is that he’s attracted a lot of attention from everyone and has little to no time to improve himself. Not to mention because he has to recreate and pioneer everything from scratch and vague memories because he doesn’t have access to the soul reaper skills, techniques, research, knowledge, and tactics that have gathered and refined over countless years.
How did he pull that off? From what I remember that wasn’t a spell but bonafide sword skill that stepped into the realm of the gods. The man who created couldn’t use magic but reached a level of martial skill and swordsmanship that surpassed magecraft. I got to say I like it though most Yuuto dxd fanfics focus more on his sacred gear and demonic completely neglecting the fact that he’s a swordman at his core. The nasuverse definitely has one of the most broken martial art skills.
Same. The whole system is bs. But luckily it seems like the MC is smart enough to spot the lies and half truths. It’s to bad it too late. If he were a normal human he’d be more or less protected by Shinto Pantheon as a ‘muggle’ that can’t be touched. But once his abilities were revealed he’s a supernatural bound by their rules.
Great chap as always. I hope he doesn’t lose his head because of a victory over some moron. With Nagi’s memories still fresh in his mind I doubt that’ll be a problem. Characters like him have it hard though because everyone now sees him as a late blooming super genius who was able to recreate a hero’s legendary spell, has peerless combat sense and intuition, and went from first circle to fourth at the speed of light, but that’s just how it looks from the outside. He might have to lie to Mephistopheles about how he achieved these feats but he shouldn’t lie to himself and acknowledge his shortcomings and continue to use the grimoire and everything else he has to overcome them. Compared to a true genius like Nagi who achieved his legendary feats through monstrous talent and hardwork his own were artificially created with the grimoire doing the heavy lifting which is okay for now but I doubt he wants that to be in the shadow of the grimoire, Nagi and whoever’s next and whoever created it forever but should aim to exceed them all. Don’t get me wrong I think he should utilize the grimoire to its fullest potential but I also hope like the legendary figures he’s read about he has achievements he can 100% call his own.
I’m glad Nagi’s memories showed him a first hand account of what strong really looks like and gave him a wake up call. I also really like the ingenuity when it comes to using his magic to optimize his training regimen creatively. I’ve got a few questions though for you authour. How old is the MC and what does he look like? Is Lamarcks closed circle as broken as it seems? And how much does he have left before canon kicks off?
