I think you're overdoing it with the anime type cliches with his recent interactions with people. His initial planning and execution of his interactions after discovering the system and getting into the magical world painted him as quite in control of his emotions, even if not perfect, and capable of sticking to a story, improvising when things deviate and quite good at covering confusion and other misshaps related to his behavior when having to make up lies on the spot. All of a sudden he scratches his head constantly embarassed and can't react and improvise based on a story that they've already set up for days now.
