True, but that case was them using pure ice power and not yin power. Jadeskin is a yin element technique and ice falls under yin, but those people forcefully practiced ice, making it go as messed up as it did. Han Sen, himself, uses the ice to reinforce the yin of the jadeskin. That said, his jadeskin wasn't formed via ice but yin itself so it can feed off of ice to get stronger

There is that but there are times where he prays to all those deities before doing certain things so that he gets the best result possible. Obviously, he's never been lucky once in any of those situations, hence why he has to work harder on everything else.
