I feel like Xin Feng's humor evolved a little compared to his other books. The system mechanic is also quite novel. I find this story quite amusing, though, only the first 30-ish chapters are available.
The story in it of itself is not bad, but the beginning storyline feels uncomfortably similar to the one of 《I am grinding experience in another world》. Spoiler Ahead They both start with painting, asking an old man for advice, leading them to go paint brothel workers and starting a conflict, and then go paint a aging man that's about to pass away. Although I know that the premises of each story are a bit different, but it's too eerily familiar.
I have to say, quite contrary to the other two, I immensely enjoy the slightly excessive amount of martial arts explanations as it adds a bit of depth to it, though I understand the pain that the wallet might suffer.
Honestly, the story is not bad, but the narration feels kind of forced. I feel like the author wants to introduce the world in a natural way, trying not to info dump us and let the story flow, but it feels so weird. Also, the descriptions about many scenes feel very vague, like the author specifically waiting for later scenes for the protagonist to introduce them when something actually happens instead of introducing as they appear. Just feels kind of weird. ╮(๑•́3•̀๑)╭
I feel the story is OK, it depends on your tastes. The protagonist feels a bit soulless and the story just jumps straight into the main scene with a bit of prologue with the sole purpose of introducing the sister-in-law, not uncommon though. Speaking of which, while it seems the author has a special place in their heart for sister-in-law(s), it seems that they don't really show much love for them. The girl (woman??) just kind of lays on the side waiting for the protagonist to tell her what to do. Being a person who almost married the leader of a financial group, you would at least know the different walks of life and have your own thoughts. Hmm perhaps I'm griping too much about it.
Incredible novel with funny characters finding joy in a dark environment. The main character has a great personality and the way the story portrays the world is very clever and very complete. Strongly recommended.
I'd prefer to think that it was a technical mistake instead.
Amazing story! The ending was kind of meh though.
This book was written as a remastered version of the Absolute Death Game. I would say that both versions are good. Personally, I feel that this version is fleshed out a bit better, but the main character in each story have different starting situation and backgrounds so its a bit difficult to make a one to one comparison. Different starting backgrounds changes the direction of the plotline. Of course there are similarities between each one, after all, it is a remastered version. However, it does bring forth new perspectives and experiences compared to each other and how much either is like depends on personal taste. Definitely recommend :) .
Seems somewhat similar to the environment the protagonist went through in Super Gene I.
