I find his change of character pretty believable, besides the fact we don't exactly know how he was before. You can't not change when you combine your personality of your past life together with knowing your future. Good work so far, even if it 5+ months since this chapter!

I, for one, like this way of him getting his powers, way more closely related mystery involved then the "generic fortuitous encounter in the wild while exploring" or some similar crap.
