Anthony fully showcasing the power of his smooth brain, putting no thought or having no awareness of the intention behind the dialogue. The fact he takes it at face value is properly why social skills have no effect on him as the social skills might need the target to be somewhat aware of the implications or be on the same wavelength. Maybe social skills do work on him but due to his mindset he always bends the logic in a way the talker didn't intend like how she was discussing the difficulties in order to negotiate for a bigger cut but Anthony interpreted it as actual difficulties and didn't want to impose themselves on them, he focused on the difficulty part of the conversation rather then the underlining meaning of giving them a bigger cut to compensate them. He might not have even been aware of this aspect as it was never outwardly spoken and hence did not sway him towards that desired outcome
