This part is a bit confusing. The way I understand it Alex, which is a human, has been with Ian since he was a baby and was able to meet Ians parent. The loophole here is that Ian has been governing the warrings way way back. How come???
He also guessed that Ian was over eight hundred years old. Perhaps even a thousand at most because the Warine Land had always been governed by him alone for many generations. In the painting hall which was usually used to hang the portrait of the previous lords of the land all had the same face with only different clothing. The french and the translation is confusing. It is not even stated if it is the author who is saying it, its it Chad, or it is a song? It is a little bit frustrating for me. It is hard to get the flow of the story.
